MUMBAI: Inside Asia's biggest slum space exist several stories and souls that have the potential to inspire one for further exploring this land of hidden talent as well as discourage others from entering into the notorious part. This part of the world is called ‘Dharavi’, and while several documentaries have emerged in the past decade to educate people about it, one ambitious filmmaker has chosen the underground hip-hop scene to prove that the grass is getting greener for the residents.
Titled ‘Dharavi Hustle’, director Sachin Pillai will take the viewers to the gullies and alleys of the slums to find out the hidden talents from the area who – despite the financial and civic obstacles – managed to follow their passion for music.
‘Hip Hop: An unseen face of Dharavi’, produced by online music instrument retailer Bajaao, will release on 13 September.
Zoya Akhtar, too, is currently working on a Bollywood project concerning the genre of music, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead.
