MUMBAI: Singer Shalmali Kholgade, known for tracks like 'Pareshaan' and 'Balam Pichkari', was surprised when she was asked to drive a pink auto-rickshaw as part of her television show 'Angels Of Rock'. She says it was a fun ride.
'Angels of Rock' which is aired on MTV is a show that is dedicated to unveiling inspiring stories of women across India.
Last week, singers Kholgade, Anusha Mani, Jasmine Sandlas and Akasa Singh rode Bullet bikes with an all-women crew.
With the hope of curbing the increasing problem of women's safety in Rohtak, the city's police official Shashank Anand started the initiative of ‘Pink Autos'. So, when the stars reached Rohtak city to meet the pink auto drivers they were asked to do a pink auto-rickshaw race among themselves.
"We were totally surprised when we got to know that we will be doing an auto-rickshaw race. The idea of it was thoroughly exciting. Being a part of 'Angels of Rock' has been amazing because I did things I never thought I would," Kholgade said in a statement.
She added, "I first learnt to ride a Bullet bike and now an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw race was great fun and all four of us enjoyed it a lot. Moreover, we are glad that we did this with the pink autos of Rohtak. It's a great cause they stand for and to be able to ride their rickshaws is definitely one thing off my bucket list."
