Green Day, Twenty One Pilots to perform at 2016 American Music Awards

MUMBAI: Rock band Green Day and musical duo Twenty One Pilots are set to perform at the 2016 American Music Awards (AMA).

The bands will be joining artists like Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Sting at the awards ceremony to be held on November 20, according to a statement.

Green Day, who recently released their album ‘Revolution Radio’, are three-time American Music Award winners and ten-time AMA nominees. The group first took the AMA stage in 2009 to perform their song ‘21 Guns’, and will return for their second performance at this year's show.

Meanwhile, Twenty One Pilots will debut at AMAs as performers.

The nominations for the awards ceremony were announced earlier this month. Rapper Drake leads the nomination pack with a mention in 13 categories, while Rihanna features in seven categories and Adele and Justin Bieber received five nominations each.

Singers Beyoncé and band The Chainsmokers each received four nominations; and Bryson Tiller, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood, Fetty Wap and The Weeknd earned three nominations each.

The show is executive produced by Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan, with Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco as producers. The event will be aired in India on 21 November 2016 on Vh1 channel.
