MUMBAI: Beauty lies in simplicity and 'Love You Zindagi' the first song from 'Dear Zindagi' proves it. Jasleen Royal's voice does full justice to the song.
The singer-songwriter-music composer has been emerging with beautiful colours be it in 'Raatein' from 'Shivaay', 'Nachde Ne Saare' from 'Baar Baar Dekho' or 'Love You Zindagi' now. Time and again, she has proved that she has what it takes to be in the music business.
'Love You Zindagi' came her way by being consistent at bothering music composer Amit Trivedi. "I had been wanting to work with Amit Trivedi for a very long time. Fortunately, I got an opportunity to meet him at MTV Music Awards where I had bagged an award. He presented the award to me," confessed the singer who says she kept showing up at Trivedi's studio to ensure she did not slip his mind.
She stayed consistent at calling him and meeting him at gatherings until he called her for a recording. "I did an Amazon jingle for him. He called me for another recording after that. I assumed it would be another jingle, but it happened to be 'Love You Zindagi, " shares an elated Royal.
Interestingly, Royal did not know that her voice was finalised for 'Love You Zindagi' till she met someone from Trivedi's team at YRF. "I was at YRF studios for 'Baar Baar Dekho' when this person walked up to me and said that, I sounded really good in 'Love You Zindagi'. I was a little unsure of what he was talking then because I had forgotten about the song, but when I realised, I was really excited," says the singer.
The singer says she knew that the song will be liked by all from the word go. "In most cases, you are a bit sceptical, but with Amit, you have full faith."
The 'Kho Gaye Hum Kaha' singer further revealed that she was overwhelmed to learn that she was singing for a Gauri Shinde film. "I am a huge fan of her work. So it was a big thing for me."
Royal, who will be composing for the Anushka Sharma starrer 'Phillauri' next, is looking forward to working with Trivedi on his upcoming projects. "He hasn't offered me anything yet. But I would love to work for him."
'Dear Zindagi' is jointly produced by Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and Gauri Shinde under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions, and Hope Productions respectively.
The film is slated to hit the cinemas on 25 November 2016.
