MUMBAI: 'Rock On II' is all set to hit theatres on 11 November 2016, but before that happens, let us rewind a bit. To 2008, when 'Rock On!!' made it to Indian theatres introducing the audience to rock band 'Magik'.
At a time when the Indian audience did not look beyond Bollywood, and India majorly lacked music festivals, ‘Rock On’ brought a whiff of fresh air.
The band ‘Magik’ and its members -- Joseph Mascarhenas (Arjun Rampal) as the lead guitarist, Aditya Shroff (Farhan Akhtar) as lead singer, Rob Nancy (Luke Kenny) as keyboardist and Kedar Zaveri (Purab Kohli) as drummer – took one and all onto a musical journey. The film went on to be critically acclaimed and its characters were cherished.
Eight years down, Akhtar and co producer Ritesh Sidhwani decided to bring a sequel with an addition – Shraddha Kapoor – and a subtraction – Luke Kenny. But, now it looks like they did not erase keyboardist Rob (Kenny) from the script.
Surprised!!! Well, the makers have thrown a Kenny surprise for the viewers in their latest song ‘You Know What I Mean’. The initial band members of ‘Magik’ are seen at a wedding gig in this song.

Does this mean that Luke too is a part of this sequel? Well, going by ‘Rock On’ storyline, the band got together for a radio show by the end of the film because it was Rob’s death wish. Remember Rob was suffering from a brain tumour! In fact, the epilogue claimed that he died two months after their performance.
So, if Rob’s dead, we assume this song to be a flashback scene unless someone forgot to connect the dots.
Whatever, be the case ‘You Know What I Mean’ is definitely a treat for the ‘Rock On’ fans who wanted to see the original band members of Magik together in 2016. You’re wishing has come true!
