MUMBAI : Star plus is launching a new music reality show 'Dil Hai Hindustani' in January 2017. The judges for this show include producer-director Karan Johar, rap- king Badshah, singer Shalmali Kholgade and music composer-singer Shekhar Ravjiani.

The music reality show is said to be unique from other shows of its kind as the contestants will not be confined to India. 'Dil Hai Hindustani' claims to be the first TV show where not only Indians but foreigners will present Bollywood music in their original style.

Star Plus has held auditions in different countries, and has now short-listed contestants from London, America, Ukraine, Moscow and many more.

The show does not set an age limit for participants. Apart from individuals, bands and groups can also participate.

Shekhar Ravjiani, part of the Vishal-Shekhar duo, said, “This is a distinctive show where you will see participants from round the globe. The basic idea behind such a concept is that we are celebrating Bollywood music. I like originality and the show is all about being original.”

Shows that are judged on ‘sur’ and other technicalities of singing have been rife and this new show promises to judge participants on the softer skills. “Music is a very sensitive thing. It is one of the mediums to connect to people . A participant who can connect to Bollywood music and present it in an original style is something the audience will get to see,” says Shekhar.
