MUMBAI: Leading music label Universal Music India (UMI) has signed an exclusive contract with the Top 10 contestants from the popular 'Idol' television property ‘Indian Idol’. In its ninth season, the reality show has brought together invariable talent from across the country. The power packed performances have been keeping the audiences in awe week after week.
A well-established brand the `Idol’ property has retained the original trio of judges -Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam while searching for the country’s next singing sensation. Universal Music India’s association with ‘Indian Idol’ creates an incredible platform to showcase the best voices of the youth.
Universal Music offers the contestants a 360-degree contract wherein the young artists’ assignments, music albums and live shows will be solely managed by the leading record label.
Speaking on the occasion, Universal Music & EMI - South Asia vice president R H Chhatrapati said, “Our association with `Idol’ both globally and here has been very successful as we saw the recorded music and the live piece make it into a sustainable business.
