Simplicity the key to Farhan Sabir's 'The Voice S2' victory

MUMBAI: & TV's 'The Voice India Stage' Season 2 announced Farhan Sabir as its winner on Saturday. The Delhi boy battled the tough competition with Niyam Kanungo (Team Neeti), Parakhjeet Singh (Team Shaan), Farhan Sabir (Team Shaan) and Rasika Borkar (Team Benny) to take the trophy and the prize money back home. This is not all that the young lad is taking with him. He has also signed a deal with Universal Studios.

Sabir who comes from a musical family had his great grandfather as a singer, while grandfather, maternal grandfather and father as musicians. His great grandfather wanted Sabir to be a singer and not a musician, a dream that Sabir has finally fulfilled with ‘The Voice’ victory.

“It is a feeling I cannot express right now. Being a winner is just a great feeling. I wasn’t sure of even reaching the finale when I first performed on ‘The Voice’ stage, but this is a dream come true for me,” said Sabir to Radioandmusic.com in a telephonic interview.

Simplicity has been the key to his victory. “I do not believe in show-off. I think this is the reason why people loved me and chose me. My simplicity attracted them,” stated the singer.

Due to unsuitable financial situations at home, Sabir had to leave studies at the age of 19 and work in a Cafe in Delhi to support his family. But, now he is set to relive the dreams he left mid-way. He plans to settle in Mumbai, complete his studies, along with settling his four sisters. The pize money of Rs. 25 lakhs will be of great help here. Sabir is, however, not settling at this. He will continue singing and exploring more in the music space.

Furthermore, Sabir’s only favourite music composer from the industry is Pritam and he wishes to work with him in future. Singers that inspire him are Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Javed Basir.
