MUMBAI: Son to a fruit juice seller in Delhi, Gulshan Kumar left behind an entire empire to his family’s name after he was brutally shot dead in Mumbai.
Founder of T-Series previously known as Super Cassettes Industry, Kumar has been the man behind few of the greatest hits in the Bollywood fraternity which include the likes of ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Dil Hain Ki Manta Nahin’ and many more.
Who knew when Kumar's family changed paths from selling fruit juice to owning a shop that sold records and cheap audio cassettes would mark the beginning of the biggest music label in India.
After his untimely demise, son Bhushan Kumar took over the label and daughter Tulsi Kumar became an accomplished playback singer.
T-Series decide on showcasing his journey through the cinematic lenses with ‘Mogul’. The music label today revealed the poster of ‘Mogul’, a biopic about the emperor of music himself. Subhash Kapoor is the director of the movie and Akshay Kumar plays the role of Gulshan Kumar.
The man’s life story is a thriller in itself and this is one movie we are definitely looking out for. Daughter Tulsi Kumar uploaded a picture of the poster saying “Papa your presence is felt in everything I do.” The first poster was intentionally released today for its Tulsi’s birthday and sources say Gulshan Kumar was overtly attached to Tulsi, thus making this a very heartfelt gift.
Shortly after the sneak peek of the first poster, Akshay Kumar reportedly said, “I had the good fortune of knowing Gulshanji well. My association with him started right from my first film ‘Saugandh’. We both shared many things in common and come from a similar background. And I am very excited to play him on-screen."
Gulshan Kumar’s son Bhushan Kumar added, "Mogul is not a film for me. It’s my dream come true. My father has been my guiding force all through my life and I have always felt his presence with me in everything I do. I always knew and I have felt his presence in everything I do. I always knew that one day I would make ‘Mogul’ and share my father's amazing story with the world. I am also extremely happy that my mother Sudesh Kumari will be producing the film. And I can think of no one better than Akshay to play him on-screen."
