MUMBAI: 'Rehmatein' as the name suggests was initiated to offer financial aid in difficult times for yesteryear noted musicians and established artists going through a rough phase.
This charitable music concert in its first year raised funds for the legendary composer Khayyam and artist Rajendra Mehta. In the second year, over 40 insurance policies were gifted to musicians and artists in need. Now, in its third year, the concert, Rehmatein 3 brought Bollywood melodious singers Ankit Tiwari, Babul Supriyo and Javed Ali alongwith Leslie Louis on one platform.
The event was also graced by music maestro Bappi Lahiri who felicitated and awarded the recipients this year. The theme for this year was Bollywood and audience thoroughly enjoyed the evergreen hits of the artists.
Hosted by Sangeetam Charitable Trust and Ebizz Entertainment, the event was held on 29 June 2017 at Shri Shanmukhananda Saraswati Auditorium Sion, Mumbai. Sangeetam Trust founder Saurabh Daftary explains, “This year the funds raised at the event were given to 20 musicians through cash and mediclaim. Some of the established but forgotten musicians who were awarded cheques were Bhoore Khan, Akbar Bhai, Prakash Khate, Devashish Bharat, Malay Chakraborty, Kalyani Mitra and many more.”
