Subhi's 'Saitan Dil' to be out in September

MUMBAI:  Chicago based singer, songwriter and composer Subhi who had sung a track for Y-Films’ Love Shots sometime last year is back with her music. This time the singer has all her heart and mind on the release of her debut album Shaitan Dil which will be launched on 15 September this year.

The album comprises of following songs- Bachpan, Jaa, Lovely, Shaitan Dil, Fizool, Tu Kaun Hai, Hum Hai Kahan, Aagosh, Idea and Malham all sung by her.

Talking about how she came up with the first song Bachpan she said, “On a hot summer afternoon in 2016, while riding back in a rickshaw from a meeting with a Bollywood film producer in Mumbai. While I was stuck in traffic I saw kids outside playing on the street and I was overwhelmed with the feelings, the memories of my own childhood in Delhi. I started singing a melody and the lyrics just flowed with it. That’s how the song Bachpan (Childhood) happened right there in the rickshaw.”

The singer later collaborated with pianist and arranger Joaquin Garcia and made a music video of the song. The song resonated with the South Asians who savoured the fun list of the favourite games Subhi trips through. The response was so huge that it led Subhi to record on the entire pop album of original Hindi songs with influences of Jazz, one of the first.

Shaitan Dil is the title track of the Subhi’s debut album. The lesson that lies behind this track is that heart runs and leaps where it will. This song is inspired by Chicago Jazz, by Hindi and Urdu Poetry.

Subhi’s playful melodious songs chronicle the delights and downside of romance but with a twist. Her stories reflect the torments of separation and transcontinental migration experiences both deeply Indian and American.
