MUMBAI: Breaking through Bollywood isn’t easy, especially in music, courtesy the reality properties. So we do get the importance of bagging three tracks as a music composer in a film starring, Farhan Akhtar. Music composer, Arjunna Harjaie is one of the few composers who get a platform like Lucknow Central to showcase their talent.
The man who’s managed to carve a niche for himself in the ad world with some successful jingles for well-known brands like Dettol, Jio, Amazon Prime, Make My Trip etc. has bagged three songs in this big banner film. This is not it, Harjaie has also scored the background music for the film. With the release of Teen Kabootar and Kaavaan Kaavaan from the album, “A lot of research has gone into making these songs. I heard the songs repeatedly to be sure about them. The tracks were finalised later,” said the composer.
Normally, getting through Bollywood is no less than breaking down a mountain, but Harjaie has managed to make it colossal in a very short span of time. “It basically happened with my introduction with Nikhil Advani sir by lyricist Kumaar who is more like my godfather, after which I worked with him on a TV show called P. O. W- Bandi Yuddh Ke, where I composed all the songs of the show. Those compositions were liked by Nikhil sir and one day he awarded me an opportunity to compose for Lucknow Central.”
In the movie industry, music is not just an art form, but a business which comes with terms and conditions that newbies have to especially adhere to. When asked if Harjaie had to go through something similar he states, “If a producer or a director who are buyers are putting in their money, we obviously have to customise our work according to their inputs and respect it.”
Harjaie who hails from a musical family has learnt Indian classical music under Pt. Sri Suresh Wadkar, western classical, and jazz music. He is also a trained pianist and a top notch sound engineer.
