MUMBAI: DJ Shilpi Sharma is a sensation in the world of remixes for giving a magical touch of her own to some of the famous songs making them more famous. Baby Doll, Lovely, Chittiyan Kalaiyaan, Gerua, Radha and many such chartbusters have a unique remixed flavour by Shilpi.
Much before making it big in the music world, Shilpi Sharma was a known face in Bollywood as an actress. She has acted in movies like Style, Jo Bole So Nihaal, Heroine and some more. But her share of fame came only after she became a DJ.
Speaking about the career switch and how she managed to become a big name in this space, she revealed to RnM, “I always loved music but never really imagined about becoming a DJ. I had taken a break from acting. One day while I was with my DJ friends and was enjoying music with them, I developed an interest in becoming a DJ, and I thought why not just give it a shot.”
Shilpi who hails from a political business family is very happy with the way she has earned success in her career, “ I couldn’t have asked for more,” said the Young Women Achievers Award winner.
She has been doing gigs at various places in India as well as abroad, where she goes as a celebrity DJ . Shilpi revealed further, “Currently this is an off season for DJs . During peak season time we don’t even have time to breathe.” She is happy that her slate is full and also for the fact that she has never had to go to anyone to ask for work. In fact directors and producers themselves approach her to remix songs for their movies.
Shilpi Sharma recently featured in a single of hers - Salaam-e-Ishq, which was a recreation of the iconic song with the same name and the legendary Rekha on screen. The new version was composed by composer Arko and remixed by Shilpi herself.
Shilpi has remixed five songs for the Shah Ruk Khan- Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal,. She has an upcoming project in which she will be collaborating with Raftaar and Kanika Kapoor.
