MUMBAI: Barcadi NH7 Weekender fans since its line up and date announcement are eagerly waiting to attend in Meghalaya (27-28 October) and Pune (08-10 December). Well, there’s more good news for them in other cities.
The festival has announced seven editions of Barcadi NH7 Weekender Express, from 7 October to 2 December. These are one-day concerts featuring several artists across genres, to bring the festival experience to new cities across India.
This year, Express travels to Kolkata (7 October), Bengaluru (29 October), Puducherry (5 November), Jaipur (12 November), Hyderabad (19 November), Indore (26 November) and Kochi (2 December). This is the second year for the BACARDÍ NH7 Express editions, which took place in five cities last year.
There are several artists across genres playing these editions, from Dutch metal band Textures (who are on their farewell tour and playing their final ever gig in the Pune edition of Barcadi NH7 Weekender), popular electronic musician Nucleya, trailblazing Malayalam folk-meets-metal ensemble Thaikkudam Bridge, Bangla-rock pioneers Fossils, Chennai rock outfit Skrat, hip-hop icon Divine and several more artists will be performing at these editions.
“As we keep doing the festival year after year, there are two trends that we see – increasingly, there are people traveling from other cities to come to the main events, and there are more and more people asking us to bring the festival to their cities. It’s bolstered our belief that an audience exists in cities across India. The Express editions are a great way of giving this audience a taste of what the full BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender experience is like!”, says OML Entertainment CEO and founder Vijay Nair that organizes the festival. “The response to the Express editions last year was overwhelming. Hence a decision to expand to more cities was an easy one to take.”
The main editions of BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender will be held in Meghalaya (27-28 October) and Pune (08-10 December) and features the likes of guitar virtuoso Steve Vai, mathcore legends The Dillinger Escape Plan, Marky Ramone of punk icons The Ramones, Bollywood composer Vishal Bhardwaj, as well as Textures, fusion act Indian Ocean, progressive metallers Skyharbor, Carnatic musician TM Krishna, The Ram Sampath Experience, Blackstratblues and more.
