MUMBAI: Sony Music associates with National Institute of Design (NID) to create a visual treat for Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on his 69th birth anniversary. The song that will be featured in the video would include the last song sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and our legendary singer AR Rahman.
Sony Music India head Anjana Devraj says, “This is a getting together of two teams with a creative bent and a combined mission to create high-quality visual content, that does justice to such a fantastic song. Be rest assured that the product will be phenomenal. The NID team working on it is using a 2D-digital hand drawn technique for the video. The lyrics video will be out on 6 October 2017 just a week before Nusrat Saab’s birthday which falls on 13 October.”
Shanthala Setty, the student working on creating the animation for this prestigious project mentioned that the video was done digitally, hand drawn, each frame using a tablet, roughly amounting to just over 3000 frames. Under the guidance of Head Animation Faculty, Professor Sekhar Mukherjee who adds on, “When I joined my Alma Mater, way back in 2002 as an animation faculty, my excitement was to wake the latent faculty of unsung students to make a promising designer with empathy. My motto still remains the same and Shanthala’s project with Sony Music is a reassuring one. I feel immensely honored to be part of this project, especially being a music freak and a lover of alternative popular culture.”
