Miditech returns to produce 3rd edition of Zee-K's Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa

BANGALORE: Miditech will be producing the third edition of Zee Kannada's talent hunt Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa. This edition (season 3) is for children between 7 and 12 years and has been named Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs. The show is to be directed by Miditech's creative director S Balaraj and hosted by MD Pallavi (who had hosted the latter half of the first edition). The announcement was made by Balaraj, Pallavi and Zee Kannada's creative head Bala Suresh at a press conference in Bangalore on Friday.

Warner ties up with Amazon.com for music downloads

MUMBAI: Warner Music Group (WMG) has joined forces with Internet store Amazon.com for making its music available for download in MP3 format without digital rights management (DRM) copy protection from AmazonMP3. Warner has so far been a strong believer in DRM technology, which is a kind of digital encryption that vendors place on music files to prevent illegal copying, distribution and piracy. The continuing dominance of Apple's iTunes store may have forced Warner to have a rethink.

MUMBAI: My 94.3 FM has tied up with CNBC Awaaz for a show Stock Talk Aapke Shaher Mein. As per the tie-up, the FM station will provide sound bytes of the stock market in Jaipur, Ahemdabad, Surat, Indore, Jodhpur and Kota stations. To promote the show, My FM is also organising a contest wherein listeners will get a chance to get their financial and investment queries answered by the finance experts on Stock Talk.

Big FM launches music of Telugu film Krishna

MUMBAI: Big FM Hyderabad in association with DVV Danaiah has launched the music of Ravi Teja's Telugu film Krishna. As an exclusive radio partner, Big FM will promote Krishna with its on-air and on-ground activities and campaigns. The station will feature interviews with the cast and crew of the movie, and also run contests for its listeners across Hyderabad, Tirupathi and Vishakapatnam.

Big Street appoints Anisha Banerji as national sales head

MUMBAI: Anisha Banerji has been appointed national sales head of Big Street, the out-of-home advertising division of Big FM. In her new role, Banerji will handle the revenue generation function for Big Street and will be responsible for the profits at the national level. In 2006, she joined Big FM as sales head, Maharashtra and was instrumental in setting up the sales team. She moved up as director of planning and strategy, spearheading several projects in the digital space of film promotions before assuming her new role at Big Street.

FM radio auction deferred to 14 January

NEW DELHI: The government has postponed for the fourth time the financial bidding for the remaining 97 FM radio stations across 48 cities. Set for 29 December and 10 January, the 27 short-listed private FM radio companies will now submit their bids on 14 and 21 January, sources in the industry told Indiantelevision.com. Earlier bidding dates of 7 November and 14 December were also postponed.

PPL adopts new strategy to monitor year end bashes

MUMBAI: The Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) is going innovative this festive season. The licensing arm of the Indian Music Industry has decided to send its staff to select venues having year end bashes. The vigilance staff will attend the parties incognito and record the activities if the parties are found playing licensed music without paying the requisite fees. The PPL then plans to seek legal recourse and claim damages and penalty from the offending party organisers.

Two FM stations hit airwaves in Puducherry

MUMBAI: Two FM stations have hit the airwaves of Puducherry. Reliance ADAG's Big FM has launched its 41st station in Puducherry, while Malar Publications' Hello FM has launched its sixth station. Already operational in places that include Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore among others, Big FM will launch four more stations to complete its total count of 45 stations across India. Big FM Pondicherry shows are Suprabatham, Inia Vazhtugal, breakfast show Big Vanakkam, Chinna Chinna aasai, o Podu, Ennama Kannu and Ragasiyamaai among others.

Radio City Hyderabad to air live from a mall

MUMBAI: Hyderabad's Radio City 91.1 FM is broadcasting live from a local mall to celebrate a weeklong Whatte Fun festival. From 7 am to 9 pm the FM station is going live through a studio set up at City Centre Mall. As part of the activity, The Radio City Breakfast Show, City Spice, Meeru Nenu and City Joyride will be aired live from the premises of the mall. Singers from the Telugu film industry - Deepu, Aditya, Bhargavi, Geeta Madhuri as well as actors Aditya Om and Shruti will be joining the Radio City team for the festive special broadcast.

Sun's SFM launches in Vijayawada

MUMBAI: Sun TV Network's SFM through its subsidiary Kal Radio has launched in Vijayawada. After the launch, its total number of SFM stations will go up to 17 across India. SFM is already operational in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Tirupati, Madurai, Tuticorin, Lucknow, Bhopal, Pondicherry, Kozhikode (Calicut) and Indore. The company will launch 28 more stations to be present in 45 stations all over India.
