Lataji and Ashaji are goddesses of music: Nain Phisal Gaye singer Payal Dev

MUMBAI: Payal Dev the name may not ring a bell, but this singer is slowly spreading the magic of her voice in Bollywood. The Take It Easy singer began her Bollywood journey in 2013, since then she has sung songs for various Bollywood films and her latest song is a part of Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Welcome To New York.

The singer is an explorer by nature and is leaving no stone unturned to make her presence felt. “I get very happy to sing songs in different genres. I also listen to all the latest international songs and try adding elements in my singing, but I haven’t been that successful there. I would definitely like to sing an English song,” giggles the Lipstick Laga Ke singer.

Veterans like Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are her inspiration. “Lataji and Ashaji are goddesses of music. No one can be like them. They made their own place in Bollywood and I want to do something like that. Something that the public notices,” confesses the singer who is also fond of Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal.

Bollywood definitely is the ultimate destination for any singer, but Payal wants to explore singing in different languages. She has already sung in Tamil, Telugu and Bengali.

Currently, the singer is extremely happy with the response Welcome To New York track Nain Phisal Gaye is receiving. “The response has been great and the best part is that I got to sing for Salman Khan. After watching Dabangg, Salman and Sonakshi (Sinha) had become my favourite on-screen pair and I finally got to sing for them. This was a dream come true,” says Payal.

Lastly, the singer states, “It’s not that many people know me but when they do search for my name, the songs appear. I also, believe that good work publicises you well.”
