MUMBAI: So while the entire Bollywood is getting over the hangover of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding, we, the fans, are just going through our timelines on social media and sighing not being invited at the extravaganza. While we possibly cant have that guest list for our weddings, let’s just see the Top Ten songs played at the reception and feel a tad better. Staying committed to the fraternity The Kapoors belong to, the playlist was predominantly Hindi Film music with performers like Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and singing sensation Mika. The playlist played was exhaustive and the brand new Tareefan was played whenever required, we choose ten grooviest ones that made this day phenomenal, standing true the hashtag promoted for this wedding #everydayphenomenal.
Mera Naam Hai Lakhan: When bride’s father is Anil Kapoor, there cant be a better kick-starter for the party than this iconic song from Ram Lakhan. What made it special was Anil Kapoor himself grooving to it with the signature steps. The audience was obviously left in frenzy.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: One of Sonam’s most popular films was the Sooraj Barjatya magnum opus. The title track of this film was performed bride’s dear friend and ace director Karan Johar. His performance of what is seen in brief video is nothing short of a diva like performance.
Sajan Ji Ghar Aye: Next up on his performance playlist was the anthem for all the late 90’s and early 2000’s weddings and song from his debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hain-Sajan Ji Ghar Aye. Quite an apt song for the occasion as the groom had just returned from USA just before the wedding festivities. Karan Johar quite literally owned the song and showed how you dance on 90’s track today.
Jumme Ki Raat Hain: The main star cast and lead singer of this song, lead singer dazzled the stage with their performance and hook steps. Added to the glory was when King Khan and the bride joined in too.
Tune Mari Entryiaan: A song from bride’s first cousin and actor Arjun Kapoor’s movie Gunday, is a complete Bollywood track. Performing on this song were the brother who features in the original and bride’s father. From what looks like, they quite set the stage on fire.
Ole Ole: Who can ever forget this track with Saif Ali Khan in lead. This song was played for the audience. The cutest video that went viral was the stunning actress and Saif Ali Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan dancing on it casually.
Khalibali: The recent chartbuster from the Padmavat was played in full blast and had Shah Rukh Khan along with Anil Kapoor and the main actor of this song Ranveer Singh dance on it. Three people high on energy dance on it, the gig is bound to be once in a while scene. We just caught a glimpse, but nonetheless.
Tan Tana Tan Tan Tan Tara: Looks like Salman Khan made a little late entry to the function but took over the stage immediately. When there is Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan and Mika together on stage. Fireworks.
Gallan Goodyian: A song that in now looked upon as the new anthem for weddings was played at the function. The original song features Anil Kapoor himself. It is the perfect depiction of family togetherness and making merry. Which is what exactly happened at the big fat wedding. One can also see Anil Kapoor dragging Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan for a dance.
Duma Dum Mast Kalandar: A rather unusual track to be played at weddings, but considering the Sonam’s Sindhi connection, well not completely out of place. Also, Ranveer Singh danced on it like there is no tomorrow, a sight worth watching.
