India Tour: Bolava VitthalÆ celebrates Ashadhi Ekadashi

MUMBAI: Bolava Vitthal is an event that celebrates the rich and evocative poetry of the saints. For more than two decades Pancham Nishad has highlighted this world renowned classical folk art of India. Bolava Vitthal an evergreen event of devotional music of Maharashtra and Karnataka is celebrating its 13thyear across 12 cities.

Devotion and spirituality is an integral aspect of Indian culture. There are many forms of expression, with music creating a unique bond between the listener and the musician, thereby enabling each person to find his/her connectivity to the divine power through various forms of music like hymns, sufi, qawalli and bhajans/ abhangwani.

For centuries, it has been an onerous task for researcher’s fraternity to analyze and interpret the philosophy of living a worthy life expressed through the literature in the form of prose and poetry, scriptures popularised by saints like Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukaram, Sant Namdeo and Samarth Ramdas and even today it continues to be a lighthouse for those who seek inner peace and strength to meet the challenges of life.

This year, the tour would be spanning across 12 cities starting from Bhopal on 14 July followed by Indore, Thane, Ahmedabad, Nasik, Vashi, Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Mangalore and concluding at Hyderabad on 5 August. The tour details are separately attached in short bringing their serene chorus of voices to cities spanning the West and South of the country.

This event features extremely talented and well known singers from the Carnatic as well as the Hindustani Classical music genre namely PadmaShri Suresh Wadkar, Padma Shri Aruna Sairam, Devaki Pandit, Ranjani-Gayathri, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Jayateerth Mevundi, Anand Bhate, Rahul Deshpande, Raghunandan Panshikar and Aparna Kelkar.

Pancham Nishad Creatives Director Shashi Vyas said, “It gives me great pleasure to present this twelve city tour. The Indian devotional music is broadly divided into two parts Sagun (With Form) and Nirgun (Formless and Abstract) and abhang is a fine blend of both. Bolava Vitthal is an effort to bring the youth of India closer to our rich cultural heritage and Indian philosophy of life interpreted lucidly by many saint poets like Namdeo, Tukaram, Dyaneshwar and Bahinabai.”

Bolava Vitthal will be held from 14 July- 5 August. Timings and venues vary.
