MUMBAI: Many Pakistani artistes, who have garnered name and fame after working in Bollywood. However, the presence of Pakistani artistes has always not been welcomed by Indians, considering the strained relations between the two nations. And, with the recent barbaric attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Kashmir, the reaction in India has been strong against Pakistan, who is playing a key role in the attacks.
On the advent of the Pulwama terror attack, All India Cine Workers’ Association declared a blanket ban on all Pakistani artists and any Indian engaging with artists from the neighbouring country will face stringent actions. Following this, the first major news from Indian film industry comes from the Bhai of Bollywood, Salman Khan. For his next two upcoming movies, Bharat and Notebook, Salman Khan had considered Atif Aslam to sing two songs. However, considering the recent attacks and the following ire by Indians, Salman has decided to choose an Indian singer over Atif.
If the sources are to be believed, Salman thinks Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam’s voice suits him the best. However, he understands that the situation currently is not favourable to engage with the neighbouring country. Previously, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has given vocals to many songs featuring Salman Khan like Jag Ghoomeya in Sultan.
In 2016, post the URI attack, there was a similar outrage among some section of the audience. However, the film Industry majorly believed in supporting the Pakistani artistes. This time, however, things have changed.
