Speaking about his experience, Vishal Dadlani says, “For this episode, we have worked with some classic songs that we have all grown up listening to and loved. One of the songs is a classic one called Chand Chhupa from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Ismail Dalbar, the music director of the original songs is one of my favorite. So to be singing his song is an absolute honor. The other song Tumhe Apna Banane Ka Junoon is also a classic song. These are songs you hum all the time.”
Commenting further on the concept of MixTape, Neeti Mohan shares, “I was a part of T-series MixTape Season 1 and it was a grand success. I am very happy to be considered for the second season. The kind of mashups and collaborations we have done along with the comments and viewership, makes us believe that people are open to something Out of the box. This give us, as artists, more faith into believing that if you try something new, it could also be appreciated. Performing with Vishal Dadlani is always a pleasure and one of the song we are rendering is Chand Chupa, which I have grown up listening to. The way Abhijit Vaghani has mixed both these songs, giving them their due respect, is commendable” adds Neeti Mohan.
Music director of the show, Abhijit Vaghani further adds, “This song is in the love genre and in a slightly retro space as well. We have used a new instrument called a Cimbalom, played by a Russian girl which replaces the santoor. The reason why that works is Chand Chupa’s theme is very long note based. Neeti Mohan and Vishal Dadlani were the perfect choice for these two songs because I wanted a grungy texture to Chand Chupa. Vishal would be a good twist and Neeti would be modern twist to the original version of Chand Chupa.”
The song features a heartfelt melody blended with instruments such as drums, bass guitar, keys, piano, percussions, electric and acoustic. Adding the right texture to the song, Neeti Mohan and Vishal Dadlani, deliver with heart-warming vocals. Their magical performance will surely take one back in time.
Directed by Ahmed Khan and conceptualized as well as developed by Shivam Chanana and Sonal Chawla, the music video has garnered over million views since it dropped online todat.
