MUMBAI: Music director Vipin Patwa’s latest composition Vaddi Sharaban for the Bollywood film, De De Pyaar De has garnered a good response from the music goers. Touted to be his biggest commercial project, Vipin, who is known more for his non-commercial work, tells difference between the two.
“In commercial music, a lot of money is invested and your song sours high. But, when it comes to non-commercial music, the songs are played on the backdrop and are a bit dark,” says Vipin.
He further explains, “In commercial films, the situation and the craft is big and hence a huge investment. The song not only looks good but is also promoted well because, today, people want to watch a song while listening to it.”
Vipin’s theory is actually true. In today’s age of vibrant promotion, be it Bollywood films or music, a massive promotion is done to promote the film/song. This creates a prior buzz, thus creating a solid foundation for film before its release. But, unfortunately, such vibrant marketing is not seen for non-commercial projects/music, where music acts as a mere background score. Vipin, too, wants to do more commercial music projects after the success of Vaddi Sharaban.
Besides, De De Pyaar De had a team of music composers/directors, who worked on different songs for the film.
“It is always challenging, but it was the combination of all right people. Everyone are good, be it Amaal Mallik, Tanishk Bagchi, Rochak Kohli, Manj Musik and Atul Sharma. Making yourself known in the crowd is important according to me,” shares Vipin Patwa, who did make his presence known among the famous lot.
