MUMBAI: The newest episode of T-Series Mixtape Season 2, featuring veteran singer Nandini Srikar and Humnava fame Akhil Sachdeva, is out. The duo has sung a soulful medley of iconic songs, Aaoge Jab Tum (Jab We Met) and Jag Soona Soona (Om Shanti Om).

On his experience of working on the episode, Akhil Sachdeva shares, “Both the songs are composed and sung by legends and are a big hit. They are presented by us in a new fresh way. The soulful medley doesn’t sound like two different tracks as they are merged so beautifully.”

“It was a task to combine both the songs and music director Abhijit Vaghani has done full justice to it. The melody and lyrics are beautiful. It has a soulful sufiyana touch to it,” he adds on working with Vaghani.

Speaking about his experience of working with Srikar, Akhil exclaims, “I am a fan of Nandini Srikar’s voice and feel privileged to be paired with her for this episode. She is a well-trained classical singer and has got a brilliant voice.”

Known for her songs like Jo Bheji Thi Duaa and Bhare Naina, Nandini also shares her experience, “I have sung Jag Suna Suna and Aaoge Jab Tum with Akhil. The music director has seamlessly mashed up both the songs. There are beautiful cord changes. It sounds quite different from the original and people will really enjoy it.”

Music Director Abhijit Vaghani also comments on the episode, “The scale of both the songs was difficult to manage. While one was major, the other went from major to minor. Composition of the song was changed a little bit to accommodate the mix. The medley track is in more of a qawwali zone as it’s a mix of a commercial classical song with a qawwali background. The idea was to keep it traditional.”

This profound mashup of the popular songs is a powerful ensemble of soulful melody and soothing rhythms backed with mind numbing vocals of the singers. The episode starts with a Sarangi paired further with a flute to give it a traditional touch. As the cords change, the piano, drums, keys, percussion, bass guitar further add to the melody of the song.
