Vodafone, MySpace team up for Web 2.0 music platform

MUMBAI: In a new deal, Vodafone and MySpace have teamed up to create an online global interactive platform allowing music fans in Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK to experience music in the social networking space Apparently, music fans can enter a competition demonstrating their reporting skills and win the opportunity to present from a music event in an MTV show episode online and on mobile.

T-Series to launch Abhijeet's fifth album

MUMBAI: Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is back with a new album to his credit. To be launched by T-Series in a month, this will be Abhijeet's fifth album, two of which, Aashiqui and Tere Bina, have been chart toppers. Tere Bina, his last album, was released in 2002. The as yet unnamed fifth album marks his comeback to the non film genre. There are likely to be six to eight tracks in the new album, not including the number of remixes which the label will soon take a call on.

Digital Outlook launches social network app for MTV's Rock Band

MUMBAI: Digital Outlook has built a social network application 'My Rock Band' on Facebook in the UK and France. The application promotes the launch of the new Rock Band game from MTV Games, available exclusively on Xbox 360. The application will launch next week, while it went live on Facebook on 13 June. It is being supported via social ads created by AKQA on Facebook in the UK and also on the official Xbox Facebook pages in UK and France.

Tim Davie promoted to BBC director, audio and music

MUMBAI: The British Broadcasting Corporation's marketing chief Tim Davie has been elevated to the position of director of audio and music. Davie, who was earlier director of marketing, communications and audiences, will replace Jenny Abramsky in September, according to a report in the Marketing Week. It is the first time the BBC has brought someone into a programming role directly from a marketing background. He will oversee the broadcaster's radio networks including its digital radio stations, the report says.

GCap radio stations penalized by Ofcom

MUMBAI: Ofcom the broadcasting watchdog imposes fine on 30 local radio stations owned by GCap for manipulating results of an on air quiz reports Telegraph U.K. The competition was named secret sound, where the listeners had to identify the sound being broadcast on air by calling or SMSing. The radio station deliberately selected participants who gave wrong answers to prevent the prize to be won soon.

XM Satellite and EMI Music Publishing settle lawsuit

MUMBAI: XM Satellite Radio and EMI Music Publishing, according to a report, announced today that they have resolved the lawsuit brought by EMI Music Publishing against XM over its Pioneer Inno, a portable satellite radio with advanced recording features. The companies did not disclose terms of the agreement. The report also stated that EMI Music Publishing has withdrawn as a party to the complaint filed by certain music publishing companies against XM in March 2007.
