Radio Mirchi launches in Thiruvananthapuram

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM has launched in Thiruvananthapuram, taking the total number of stations to 31 all over the country. In Thiruvananthapuram, Radio Mirchi programming will begin with devotional music on Morning Raagam followed by breakfast show Hello Thiruvananthapuram. Ladies Colony will be the next show for the women. Mollywood Matinee, Bumper 2 Bumper, Bellbottoms and Dr Love are some more offerings from Radio Mirchi.

Sun TV's S FM to launch in Kanpur

MUMBAI: Sun TV's S FM is launching in Kanpur through its subsidiary South Asia FM. The launch will take the total number of FM stations to 21 all over India. S FM already operates in places that include Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Tirupati, Madurai, Tuticorin, Lucknow, Bhopal, Pondicherry, Kozhikode (Calicut), Indore, Vijayawada, Varanasi, Tiruchy and Rajahmundry. The company will launch 24 more stations to complete the launch of 45 stations across the country.

ETC fixes date for amalgamation with ZILS

MUMBAI: Mumbai-based ETC Networks Ltd, a part of Zee Group, has fixed 11 February 2008 as the record date for the scheme of amalgamation. The amalgamation involves a merger between ETC Networks and Zee Interactive Learning Systems (ZILS). The merger will be effective from 1 April. The share-swap ratio has been fixed at two shares in ETC for each held in ZILS, as recommended by independent valuer Dalal and Shah. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) currently holds 55.29 per cent in ETC.

IFPI report calls for more ISP intervention

MUMBAI: Urgent action is needed to translate the role of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in protecting music on the internet into reality, according to the IFPI Digital Music Report 2008. ISP co-operation, via systematic disconnection of infringers and the use of filtering technologies, is the most effective way copyright theft can be controlled, says the report. Independent estimates say up to 80 per cent of ISP traffic comprises distribution of copyright-infringing files.

Sony Ericsson launches FM-AM radio-mobile handsets

NEW DELHI: Sony Ericsson today announced the global launch of four new mobile phones, two of them are "inspired by India" and have FM-AM radio on the phone, as the company's user interface showed that radio is a craze in India, senior managers of the company said. Produced in the company's Chennai facility, the two India-specific phones, R300i Radio and R306i Radio will be launched in the Indian market in the first quarter of this year and will be priced between Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000, respectively.
