Ghazal to become one of the mainstream, says Talat Aziz

MUMBAI: Famous Ghazal singer from Hyderabad, Talat Aziz, who was last seen as a jury member at Hungama’s Khazana, spoke to Radioandmusic about the recent ghazal music scenario in our country and a lot more.

Speaking about the show that promotes ghazal musicians, Aziz said, “Khazana is a big platform for ghazal singers. It’s been there for 18 years. The best part about the initiative is that it's offering a new platform to the singers to showcase their talent.”

When asked about his take on the ghazal music scene in India, the singer said, “Ghazal was not doing great a couple of years back because film music was on its top. But, due changes in the last couple of years and owing to Khazana, we have Ghazal back into the industry. We have seen a lot of new talents coming up and lots of album releases. I am very positive that Ghazal is going to be one of the mainstream music in the coming years.”

Aziz also speaks on Hungama’s Khazana, “It’s a big platform for ghazal singers, which has been there for 18 years. The best part about Khazana is that it offers a platform to singers to show their talent and to the ones who don’t get an opportunity to sing. It is hard work of Khazana and now Artist Aloud Hungama that anyone from any part of the world can come and join us.”

Lastly, he spoke on the qualities that he looks for in a ‘ghazal singer’, “Ghazal is a genre for which, one should understand poetry and apart from music composition, punctuations are also very important.”

Meanwhile, the winners of Hungama’s Khazana 2019 were recently announced.
