MUMBAI: Record-breaking Korean group BTS continue to soar with their latest Japanese single “Stay Gold”. The uplifting track comes at a time when the world's come to a standstill due to COVID-19, encouraging listeners to not be afraid and keep pushing forward. As V sings, "Even the clock hands // Will stop moving // Let it glow."
The eloquent single is the first to come off BTS’s fourth Japanese studio album Map of the Soul: 7. The Journey, which will be released on July 15. While “Stay Gold” itself dropped on June 19, BTS on Friday revealed the official music video of the Japanese single.
The music video is filled with joy as members (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook) reflect on the hard times and how the new era has brought happiness in their lives. The word 'GOLD' has been used as a metaphor for the precious part of your life which is happiness and love, their most valued possession. They urge to always emphasize beautiful sides of life and want to see everyone to be happy and appreciate the moments of joy.
The moving track's music video opens with RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook gazing beyond the dilapidated rooms, which take on hints of the group's previous music videos such as Fake Love and Singularity, in which they are resting in separately. As the melodies of the heartfelt track pour in, there is a paradigm back-and-forth shift between the rather dystopian-looking structures to the seven members enjoying their time together, basking in the warm atmosphere.
Stay Gold's music video seems to be inspired from the current happenings in the world. As the COVID-19 pandemic takes grip of the globe, many are forced to stay indoors, separated from their loved ones.
But just like the track's encouraging message, the seven artistes see the light at the end of the tunnel. As the lyrics go "If you want a miracle // I'll show you one", the seven walk out into spring, a stark contrast from where they were initially put.
The members will perform another original song 'Your Eyes Tell' on July 13 as a part of their comeback. Jungkook has participated in the composition.
'Map Of The Soul: 7 - The Journey' is set to release on July 15, 2020.
