BLACKPINK in the list of 40 hits among Korean artists in the UK

MUMBAI: 2020 has turned out to be the biggest year of BLACKPINK’s time together, even though they’ve only released two songs. The group, who were already poised to hit new highs and break records whenever they kicked off their highly-anticipated comeback, landed another big hit in the U.K. this time around with their latest single with “How You Like That”.

Because of that title’s lofty debut, they have also passed one of the most successful acts from their home country in one of the largest music markets in the world when looking at the number of major singles.

BLACKPINK’s new single “How You Like That” debuts at No. 20 on this week’s ranking of the most-consumed tracks in the U.K., giving the band not just another win, but one more top 40 success. By sending the new cut into the important region, which typically defines when a charting tune has become a proper hit, the quartet has beaten every other name from South Korea when it comes to the most top 40 smashes.

The girl group now stands as the South Korean musicians with the most top 40 smashes, breaking out of a tie with BTS, who have also asserted themselves as global superstars in the past few years.

Last frame, the two highly successful outfits both claimed a trio of top 40 hits in the U.K., but now BLACKPINK has pulled ahead, becoming the first from their nation to snag four such placements.
