Arpita Chakraborty's single "Makhmali" wins more than 1 Million Hearts in just 2 days

MUMBAI: Playback singer Arpita Chakraborty has released her first single, a beautiful and romantic ballad “Makhmali” bringing back the 1970s- 80s era, giving you the retro vibe. The Bollywood actor Omkar Kapoor, leading the music video along with Ana Ilmi as the female lead.

“Makhmali” is sensual and has a groovy and jazzy vibe to it. Speaking of the song Arpita shared that It is very hard to decide whether the video is better than the song or the song is better than the video as both stand out. In a time like this, the pandemic has led to devastation in the music industry and film industry as a lot of things are not being able to be released.

“We haven’t seen a nice music video for a very long time, so I think the music video will interest people a lot. Luckily, we finished this shooting before the lockdown started so it is a very beautiful and grand music video, which has got a very glamorous feel to it altogether”.

The whole retro concept has been visualised by Director Prasad Kadam “I was blown away by it’s beautiful concept, which consisted a little bit of history. We have treated it as a film, not as a song. So, kudos to the director and my entire team; producer, choreographer, lyricist, everyone, it was a team effort”.  

She has utilised this time very well. Keeping aside her singing career Arpita was also a designer before, graduated from National Institute of Design Ahmedabad “I’m a textile designer by profession but I have become a singer by destiny”. Amid the lockdown she’s doing a lot of DIYs. Spending quality time with her husband and son, they couldn’t spend much time together but now they are together as a family “Quarantine turned out to be a blessing in disguise” she adds.

As a singer, music keeps her on her knees. They have to practice singing every morning but she likes to practice every single moment, whenever she gets time. She has a small recording studio, so during this quarantine she have been doing a lot of projects singing wise “Play back singing, or I record and send it to my vocal faculty”. Apart from singing she has been doing yoga, cooking and cleaning.

The singer recently received an award for “Best Playback Singer” in the movie “Ti and Ti” for the song “Ghe Jaguni Tu”. She is best known for her songs in films such as “Ragini MMS 2”, “Satyagraha”, “Hero” and “Total Dhamaal”.

Pointing out the best thing she has learned amid the quarantine period “There is nothing that you cannot do or achieve if you really put your heart to it and all by yourself. Because there are so many limitations and restrictions during this period, like you cannot go out much, you can’t meet people, you can’t get many things in the market. Within all those limitations, I have learned that as human beings we have very restricted limitations. We make our lives complicated but I feel like it’s very simple, we have started to live in that philosophy of simple living and high thinking”.

There’s a pipe line of songs from both Bollywood and Marathi films, “People are going to watch it and appreciate it so the feeling is very amazing”, Arpita concluded.
