The song is a sharp critique of capitalist agendas which leave the common, powerless and poor out to dry in times of crisis. The views are personal, controversial and not to everyone's agreement, but what Swadesi intends to do is ask everyone to find their own truth and question everything.
One of the few artists from the Indian hip-hop scene that has built its brand on offering 'outspoken and bold' political viewpoints from the heart of the Indian youth - Swadesi are relentless in their pursuit of speaking truth to power. Swadesi released their debut album ‘Chetavni' in February 2020, a year after their hit anthem ‘The Warli Revolt' was released. The song went viral on TikTok in May 2020, gaining them over 1.7M hits on YouTube alone.
