BBC to get audio, text news to mobiles

MUMBAI:The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is set to bring audio and text mobile news services into India. BBC already provides the news on mobile service in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Talks are on with mobile service providers in India and the deals are likely to be sealed in a few weeks, sources say. While text news alert services are not a new concept for Indian mobile phone users, audio news services would be a novelty in this country.

T-Series releases Pankaj Udhas' new album

MUMBAI: Endless Love-Kitni yaad aati hai, will be Pankaj Udhas' fifth album to be launched on the T-Series label. It is an album of eight romantic songs. Divya Khosla Kumar has directed the music videos of the album. The first track from the album'Aansoo jab bhi' is about the trauma felt by two lovers who have to part because their horoscopes don't match. Their past life resurfaces when they accidentally meet each other. The video is shot with all the elements surrounding human sentiments and tells the story of the past lovers.

Radio Indigo turns tweens into RJs in Bangalore

MUMBAI: Creating a platform for young children to present their talent Radio Indigo has started a show 'Junior RJ' in Bangalore, hosted by one young RJ every Saturday between 10 to 11 am. Every Saturday, a selected child plays his/her favourite numbers for the city. The tiny tots after finalising their list write script and take the studio under control. For instance on 19 January, nine year old Nidhi, will host the show. The fourth standard girl will talk about her favourite artistes and music. She is going to play some heavy metal tracks, an influence of her father.

Radio Mirchi launches in Raipur

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM has launched in Raipur, taking the total number of stations to 30 all over the country. Besides Raipur, Radio Mirchi is already operational in places including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur, Pune, Patna, Jalandhar, Goa, Bhopal, Vadodara, Kanpur, Rajkot, Varanasi, Nashik, Lucknow, Surat, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Madurai, Nagpur, Vishakapatnam, Vijayawada and Mangalore.Radio Mirchi will roll out two more radio stations by the end of the year, to complete the total number of 32 stations in India.

Iron Maiden to bring back Egyptian production on '08 tour

MUMBAI: Heavy metal band Iron Maiden begins its 2008 world tour 'Somewhere Back In Time Tour' in Mumbai, on 1 February 2008. It is the band's first stop in India, with Bruce Dickenson flying their specially designed chartered flight. Iron Maiden will revisit their history as the tour harks back to their glory years of the eighties and will focus almost exclusively on the four albums that the band released from that era 1983 - 1988 namely, Piece Of Mind, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son.

FM Phase II bidding postponed again after HC dismisses I&B petition

NEW DELHI: The information and broadcasting ministry today announced a further postponement in Phase II of bidding for FM licenses. This follows the Delhi High Court's dismissal of a review petion filed by the ministry against an earlier court order allowing Radio Today to bid if it fulfilled certain conditions. Following court's dismissal of the petition, the ministry was forced to postpone the bidding due to several complications, and this has triggered widespread confusion amongst industry leaders.
