MUMBAI: Tomorrow is the 400th Birth Anniversary of the Ninth Guru of the Sikh Religion - Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Guru Tegh Bahadur was the head of the followers of Sikhism until his execution by Aurangzeb in 1675. He embodied the essence of selfless sacrifice and eternal service for the good of others.
To commemorate this historical occasion, celebrated singer and musical artist, Harshdeep Kaur, pays her humble tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur by reciting his Shabad - “TEGH BAHADUR SIMRIYE GHAR NAU NIDH AWAE DHAYE ". When translated, it means “when I meditate the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur, all the nine worldly and spiritual treasures come to my house”. It is this blessing of the Nine Treasures that brings worldly riches and prosperity as well as the balance of faith, detachment, contentment, joy, and complete devotion to God. During such troubled and challenging times, Harshdeep aims to give hope, courage, strength, and comfort to all of us via this rendition.
Harshdeep Kaur urges and appeals to all devotees, worldwide, to pray from the safety of their respective homes for the greater good of humanity. The charity of the Sikh religion is incomparable during such crises and it is their sewa and selfless service which reflects and reaffirms the true message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Let us all pray that we overcome these tough times, conduct ourselves in a responsible manner, lend a helping hand whenever we can, keep our spirits from sagging, and begin the process of healing towards some sense of normalcy soon. Together as one. Tegh Bahadur Simiriye ghar nau nidh awae dhyae.
