MUMBAI: Grace Foundation presents ‘Manan’ a tribute concert celebrating the 98th birth anniversary of late maestro Pandit C. R. Vyas. Two of his senior disciples Sanjeev Chimmalgi and Sriram Parsuram will pay tribute to their Late Maestro by presenting a unique confluence of Hindustani and Carnatic vocal singing. They will be supported by Sridhar Parthasarthy (Mridangam), Yashwant Vaishnav (Tabla), Siddhesh Bicholkar (Harmonium), and B. Ananatharaman (Violin).
This unique Jugalbandi will be held at Swatantrayaveer Savarkar Sabhagruh, Veer Savarkar Marg, Old Cadell Rd, Dadar West, Shivaji Park, Mumbai on Wednesday, 9th November 2022 from 7 p.m. onwards. The event is Non- Ticketed and free for all to attend.

As a creative composer, Late Pandit C.R. Vyas composed over 250 Bandishes in various ragas under the pen name “Gunijan”. His compositions travelled beyond the boundaries of Gharanas as many vocalists from different Gharanas have sung his Bandishes in their respective concerts in various festivals across the country.
About Late Shri.Chintaman Raghunath Vyas
Gifted with a powerful but intensely musical voice marked by depth and range, Chintaman Raghunath Vyas, popularly known in the world of music as C. R. Vyas, enriched the world of classical music in immeasurable ways. He was known for his penchant to present seldom-heard ragas in his concert performances. Pandit C. R. Vyas also ensured to pass on the rich treasure of his musical knowledge to the next generation of many talented musicians
His vast knowledge and musicianship also made him one of the few exponents of the lesser-known ragas such as Maluha Kedar, Malav, Dev Gandhar, Salang, Ahiri, Lalit, Chandrakauns-Bageshriang, BarathiTodi, and Champak. As a guru, he had immense faith in aspiring young musicians.
As a guru, he passed on the knowledge to many aspiring young musicians. All these attributes made him an invaluable guru, thinker, composer, performer, and practitioner of music. A recipient of many prestigious awards Panditji left for a heavenly abode on 10th January 2002 leaving an indelible mark of his musical contribution on the world map of Indian classical Music.

Sriram Parasuram, one of India’s leading musicians today, hails from a family steeped in musical tradition. He started learning the violin at the age of 4 and gave his first public performance at the age of 8. Since then he has given innumerable violin solo concerts all over the world. Initially trained by his mother Paravathy Parasuram, he also received guidance from stalwarts such as Sri K.S. Narayanaswamy, Krishnamurthy Bhagavathar, and Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar who honed his skill further as a prolific Carnatic musician. His deep desire to learn Hindustani Classical music led him to be under the tutelage of veteran vocalist Pandit C. R. Vyas. He also received guidance for Pt. Rajan Mishra is a very well-known vocalist.
But what makes him the thorough geek is his studious and aesthetic approach toward music. He is an Engineer from VJTI, Mumbai, and a management graduate from IIM, Calcutta, master's in Western Violin from Akron University, USA, and a doctorate in Ethnomusicology or World Music from Wesleyan University, USA.
Sanjeev Chimmalgi is one of the most prominent and promising classical vocalists of today. He has been singing professionally since his early twenties and has performed all over India, Europe and USA. Sanjeev's singing is noted for its fluidity and graces his forte being a highly sophisticated treatment of the Raga and the delicacy of his approach to bol and swar. His presentation speaks volumes of the cherished values of the Indian Classical Music tradition viz authenticity coupled with simplicity, lucidity, and refinement. He is one of the senior disciples of legendary vocalist Pandit C.R.Vyas.
