FM players vent fury on MRUC, moot formation of alternative body

MUMBAI: After Big FM came down heavily on the Media Research User Council (MRUC) for its allegedly 'inappropriate' radio measurement system - the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) -  other broadcasters have also mooted the formation of an alternative body for radio measurement.

Backstreet Boys show will resemble movie

Indiamart.com launches two month campaign on Mirchi

MUMBAI: As part of its newly launched Rs 50 million promotional marketing campaign, online B2B marketplace Indiamart.com has launched an advertising campaign on the Radio Mirchi network. The two month long campaign, starting from February will be aired across 12 stations of Mirchi including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Jaipur, Jalandhar and Indore.

BBC, DW, VoA protest Iranian jamming of radio stations

MUMBAI: International broadcasters - BBC, Deutsche Welle, and Voice of America - have condemned what they term  'a new wave of deliberate electronic interference by the Iranian authorities' which is affecting their broadcasts. BBC World News – the English language channel - was the latest channel to be jammed this week. The new wave of jamming occurred as Iranians marked the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

Rana Barua quits Radio City

MUMBAI: Radio City EVP and National Head - Programming Rana Barua has quit the organisation after five years. Barua is currently serving his notice period. When contacted, Barua confirmed that he had put in his papers but was yet weighing his options. Barua, who hails from an advertising background (he headed Bates Enterprises' Mumbai office for two years before joining City in 2006) might go back to the sector, sources said. Radio City had an extremely successful programming run under Barua's stewardship in the first three years of his tenure.

MySpace CEO Owen Van Natta quits

MUMBAI: The digital space is abuzz with MySpace CEO Owen Van Natta quitting the organization in less than a year after joining. The reason for his resignation is not known. He will now be replaced by Mike Jones and Jason Hirschorn, who joined the company in April last year and have been serving as chief operating officer and chief product officer respectively. The new developement is likely to shock observers as Owen Van Natta had the challenge of turning round the fortunes of MySpace while it faced tough competition on the webspace from Facebook and Twitter
