MUMBAI: HMV Canada, the country's biggest record store chain has been sold to Hilco UK, a British retail restructuring specialist, for $3.2 million. HMV Canada operates 121 stores and is the only national specialty entertainment retailer in the country. HMV Canada was a major music retailer at one time, but has been hobbled by consumers increasingly going online for music, and falling physical CD and DVD sales.

MUMBAI: Superstar hip-hop artist Eminem, has landed at no. 1 spot for the second time within 12 months with Hell: The Sequel, having sold 171,000 albums, earlier Eminem 'Recovery' had spawned the charts. For the first time in the last five years an artist has topped no. 1 position twice in a year. The album debuted at no. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart (Eminem's sixth album to do so), as well on as the R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap Albums charts, marking the beginning of a triumphant comeback for the artist.

MUMBAI: Revenues of the Indian mobile handset market grew by 15% to touch Rs 33,171 crore in 2010-11 from Rs 28,897 in 2009-10, according to an annual survey by the telecom industry journal Voice&Data. The 16th annual survey 'V&D 100' covered all the mobile handset companies in India across categories like feature phones, multimedia phones, enterprise phones and smartphones. Both multi-national and Indian mobile phone firms were surveyed for this report.
