MUMBAI : Rising producer and Pete Tong ‘Future Star of 2023’ Kiimi (they/she) announces new single ‘Serotonin’ due 13th Sept via Three Six Zero Recordings.
Fresh from their recent HOR set, opening for Radio 1’s Ibiza weekend and hot on the heels of ‘Know Someone’, which received widespread praise including Arielle Free’s ‘Tune Of The Week’ and further support from Jaguar, Danny Howard, Gordon Smart and Jess Iszatt, Kiimi returns with heartfelt vocal cut ‘Serotonin’. An ode to healing after significant heartbreak, ‘Serotonin’ brims with tears-in-the-club emotive euphoria, embracing vulnerability, Kiimi’s vocals take centre stage, showcasing the artist’s considerable talent as a vocalist as well as a producer.
‘Serotonin’ also coincides with the announcement of Kiimi’s debut live show which will take place at iconic London venue The Social (TICKET LINK HERE), who’s previous alumni include Andrew Weatherall, Chemical Brothers, Four Tet, and Fatboy Slim, on Wednesday Nov 1st - the first opportunity to witness the multi instrumentalist and vocalist perform their music live in the intimate confines of this legendary venue. The cherry on top of an incredible summer for Kiimi who has played stand-out sets at Glastonbury, Body Movements, Junction 2 and more.
On the release, Kiimi says:
“Making ‘Serotonin’ was cathartic for me while I was processing a pretty hefty breakup. It felt like I’d been on high alert for a year because I was so anxious all the time with this person. Then when it ended, there was this big emotional comedown. Everyone experiences heartbreak, right, and it hurts like hell, but you just kind of have to ride it out. I’m also singing on the track and the vocals don’t have a lot of processing on them, so it feels pretty vulnerable and raw, but that’s exactly the point.”
London-based Kiimi is an artist who has applied their conventional understanding of composition to a wholly unconventional output. A classically trained musician, they are making waves in the electronic music scene with their unique sound, already receiving acclaim from artists such as Jamie XX, TSHA and Jack Saunders who proclaimed Kiimi as "the future of electronic music". Kiimi's releases have also been supported by the likes of HAAi and The Blessed Madonna who picked Kiimi as one of her artists to watch in '22.
With the live show plus Creamfields, Lost Village and more to come this year from this rising star, it’s all eyes on Kiimi all the way into 2024.
