MUMBAI : Koei Tecmo America has revealed plans for a digital remake of the strategic game Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII, which is slated for release in early 2024 across various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC via Steam. This revamped edition will enhance the game's visuals and gameplay mechanics, drawing inspiration from the expanded version, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII with Power Up Kit." Notable additions include incorporating features like "All Officers Play" and "All Periods Scenarios." Further insights into this remake will be disclosed during the Tokyo Game Show on September 22.
The original game debuted on the PC in Japan in 2001. It later became available on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable platforms. It reached North America in 2003. An upgraded iteration, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII with Power Up Kit," was also introduced. This enhanced edition can be found on Steam in North America but offers language support exclusively in Japanese and Chinese.
In more recent developments, "Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV," the most recent flagship installment in the series, was launched in North America in February 2020, initially on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. It had previously been released in Japan in January 2020 and is also accessible on the Nintendo Switch.
