PM Modi commends Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain at Grammy Awards 2024, acknowledges 'Your Exceptional Talent Won Hearts'

MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends congratulations to Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, Rakesh Chaurasia, Selva Ganesh V, and Ganesh Rajagopalan on his X account, acknowledging their triumphant win of three Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Amidst stars like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, the Indian musicians have brought pride to the nation.

Ustad Zakir Hussain and flautist Rakesh Chaurasia clinched two joint awards for their song "Pashto" and the album "As We Speak," to which the song belongs. "Pashto," featuring American musicians Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, triumphed in the Best Global Music Performance category.

The song "Abundance in Millets" by Falu, featuring the PM, was also nominated in the same category. "As We Speak" secured another win in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album section. Zakir's supergroup Shakti, featuring violinist L Shankar, percussionist Vikku Vinayakram, and British guitarist John McLaughlin, received the Best Global Music Album for "This Moment."

Singer Shankar Mahadevan is also a member of this illustrious group.
