Pankaj Udhas dies after prolonged illness

MUMBAI: Renowned Indian ghazal and playback singer Pankaj Udhas, celebrated for his contributions to the music industry, especially in the realm of ghazal singing, has passed away at the age of 72.

He began his career with the release of his ghazal album "Aahat" in 1980 and went on to record many hits, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene with albums like "Nasha" and "Shagufta".

On social media, Pankaj Udhas' daughter Nayaab shared a statement on Instagram which read, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness."

Udhas, whose career spanned several decades, was known for his ability to evoke deep emotions through his music.
