MUMBAI: Actor and DJ Ali Merchant has stepped up his passion for music. He has now launched his new alter ego - ILA under his music label named ‘All About Afro’. Recently Ali announced the same and revealed that the first music under his label will be 'Samaa', sung by Rajeshwari Raj.
Through this new venture, Ali wants to take the essence of Indian classical and folk music to the global level. "My intent is to take Indian music to international platforms, specifically by blending Indian classical and electronic music to create a fusion that resonates globally. I want to help Indian classical music gain wider recognition by merging it with international genres," Ali said while talking about his decision.
"Afro track incorporates Indian classical elements. The goal is for Indian music to be appreciated worldwide, but in a contemporary, global context. As a Bollywood DJ, and given the popularity of this genre, I decided to launch my alter ego, 'ILA’ Under this name, I will perform, produce, and create a diverse range of serious, international-style music that keeps Indian vocals at its core, while the overall style remains globally relevant," he added.
With the upcoming release of his latest original track, ‘SAMAA’, Ali is also making efforts to push the boundaries of his musical style. ‘SAMAA’ captures the essence of Afro-inspired rhythms fused with the soul of Indian classical music, creating a soundscape that is both hypnotic and electric. This track, along with other releases under ILA, aims to bring the beauty of Indian culture to international audiences through an Afro-house lens.
Ali Merchant's decision has left his fans excited, who are now anticipating a lineup of groundbreaking releases from All About Afro. It will also surely make India proud at the global level.
