MUMBAI: English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is currently in Bengaluru as part of his highly anticipated +-=÷x 2025 India Tour. However, a viral video of the musician being interrupted by the Bengaluru police during a street performance has sparked widespread attention on social media.
The unexpected moment led many to believe it was an impromptu act without permission. Addressing the confusion, Ed took to his Instagram stories, clarifying, “We had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though. See ya at the show tonight x.” He also shared his excitement about performing “Night 2” in Bengaluru at NICE Grounds.
The incident unfolded when Bengaluru police, reportedly unaware of Ed’s identity, instructed him to stop performing and even unplugged his microphone mid-song. While some criticized the authorities, others defended Ed, calling the situation “embarrassing” since the performance was pre-approved.
Despite the hiccup, the four-time Grammy winner continues to win hearts. Sheeran performed in Bengaluru on Saturday and is set to play again tonight due to overwhelming demand. His India tour includes stops in Hyderabad, Pune, Shillong, and Delhi NCR, with Bengaluru being the only city to host him twice.
