Parks, often hailed as the “mother of the civil rights movement,” became a pivotal figure in American history after her brave refusal to surrender her bus seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955. Her simple act of defiance ignited the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a turning point that led to the dismantling of racial segregation in public transportation.

Given Parks’ monumental role in the fight for Black rights, many found the use of her image in such a manner deeply disrespectful, sparking widespread criticism online.
