MUMBAI: Dutch electronic music act Blasterjaxx is performing in India as part of its three-city tour with Sunburn. After performing at Mumbai's NSCI on 6 February, the duo, consisting of Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf, will head to Hyderabad on the 7th and Bangalore on the 8th of February.
Jongkind and Makhlaf spoke to Radioandmusic.com about their signature radio show 'Maxximise On Air' as well as shed light on their YouTube channel issue. Over the past couple of months, the Blasterjaxx YouTube channel has been facing technical problems, which made it difficult for them to upload new music videos, confirmed Jongkind. The last Blasterjaxx original music video released was ‘Vision', after which there have only been Maxximise On Air mixtape playlists. Jongkind said, "The issue will be handled soon back home. We will be uploading music videos of our new tracks very soon."
Blasterjaxx created their debut radio show called 'Maxximize On Air', which provides exclusive new material by well known electronic dance music artists such as Hardwell, Avicii, Afrojack, Manuel Costa, DBSTF, Dmitri Vegas & Like Mike, Tiësto and many more. Jangkind added, "Maxximise On Air is currently expanding across European regions. The show is currently on more than 500 radio stations across Europe, and we plan to expand to twice that over the next few months."
Makhlaf said that they are currently working on new collaborations with Dutch trance and house duo W&W and Dutch electro house DJ Timo Romme, best known as his stage name MOTi. Blasterjaxx has previously collaborated with Quintino, Yves V, Badd Dimes, Courtney Janaé and for their last single ‘Beautiful World' with DBSTF (D-Block & S-te-Fan).
Jongkind concluded the interview by stating that it is easier for mainstream non-EDM musicians to venture into EDM, but for pure EDM artists the process can be tedious. When asked if we could see Blasterjaxx collaborate with a mainstream music artist anytime soon, Jongkind said, "It is too early to say anything. Nothing is confirmed yet."
After the India tour, Blasterjaxx will perform in Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia. The duo will also perform at several festivals later this year, including the Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) and Tomorrowland.
