The Fringe Pop's new EP to be produced in Nashville

MUMBAI: Four-piece indie pop/rock band, The Fringe Pop, will have its new EP produced by a renowned music producer in Nashville, reveals drummer Caleb Prabhakar. For the same purpose, Prabhakar will be flying to Nashville later this month along with the band’s vocalist Shreyas Kendurkar.

“The last album was self-produced; this one is going to be more polished, which is why were taking it to a producer in Nashville,” said Prabhakar. The new EP consists of four tracks and is called ‘Different Shades of the Colour You are Thinking About’. Explaining the long EP title, Prabhakar said, “The name reflects the band’s current mental state. Even though we are in different places and doing different things, we are all thinking about our music; just in our own ways. The methods might vary, but the destination is the same.”

The sound of the record, Prabhakar said, could not be more different than the band’s earlier album, ‘If You Haven’t Noticed Yet’. “The new album is very different; our sound is more mature and evolved,” he added. Prabhakar also said that the band started work on the album two months ago, and want to release it by the end of next month. For the album, every band member recorded his own part individually, as was required, since the band members reside in different cities.

Speaking on the influences for the new record, Prabhakar cited British rock/pop groups The Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles and Jack White, along with Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala. “Maybe a little bit of Red Hot Chilli Peppers too,” added Prabhakar. Along with Prabhakar and Kendurkar, the band also consists of bassist Aaron Marcus and guitarist Ankeet Bhat.

The Fringe Pop will start live performances soon after the release of the EP, stated Prabhakar. He also said that the band hopes to perform and the coveted Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival.
