MUMBAI: Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu has confirmed that his uncle, maestro Ilaiyaraaja, is absolutely fine and will be discharged later on 17 August.

Ilaiyaraaja was hospitalised on 15 August.

He was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Chennai after he complained of pain in the abdomen. A family source had said that he was suffering from some gastric problem.

Ilaiyaraaja, 72, has composed over 5,000 songs in his career spanning over three decades across multiple languages.

The National Award winning composer has produced some of the evergreen hits in southern cinema and also has memorable Hindi albums to his credit.
