MUMBAI: Singer Mel B says she's a fighter and is proud of everything that she has achieved in life.
The 39-year-old, whose marriage to husband Stephen Belafonte is on a roller coaster, admits she has had ups and downs in life, but she has come out of it as a stronger person, reports femalefirst.com.
"I am a fighter, I'm proud of what I've achieved, not just in my career but as a woman. I've been through many ups and downs and I've come out of it a stronger person," Mel B told Grazia magazine in an interview, which she gave before rumours that her husband assaulted her, came to the fore.
"The X Factor" judge feels that she is tough because of her experiences as a single parent.
Insisting it was a positive experience raising her 15-year-old daughter Phoenix alone following the breakdown of her first marriage with Jimmy Gulzar in 2000, she said: "I think being a single parent for six years with Phoenix, and living in LA (Los Angeles) by myself made me much stronger. It made me realise what life is about.
"It's not just about you, it's about your children and having the right influences around them."
