MUMBAI: She rocked the chartbusters with her debut song 'Baby Doll' that was composed by the Meet Brothers. Now Kanika Kapoor is set to release a few more singles by March 2015, along with a couple of international collaboration on the cards.
She labeled 2014 as a 'blessed year' and elaborating further on the same she said, "The kind of love and appreciation I got from everyone for the song 'Baby Doll' came as a sweet surprise, and that too for my debut Bollywood project. The song is touted to be one of the biggest hits of 2014 and I could not have asked for more."
However, she does not want to take up too many projects as wishes to leave a mark in whatever she does. "I do not want to be heard every two weeks as I do not want to keep taking projects and then have them get lost somewhere. I want my songs to do well, so if I feel a particular song suits my voice, I will sing it," explained Kapoor.
Recently she crooned 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan' for the film 'Roy' which was again composed by Meet Brothers. "For the song 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan' I had to keep Jacqueline Fernandez in mind and the song is very very different from 'Baby Doll'. The song is about a bubbly girl who is in love so it required a different approach," she said.
Based in London, Kapoor comes to India for a few days to complete her Bollywood projects. She was born in Lucknow and from a very early age was exposed to classical music. At the age of 11, she accompanied stalwarts like Anop Jalota for live performances. "When I had to come to Mumbai for work, I thought it is really going to be difficult living alone in the city like Mumbai, but fortunately every single person I dealt with, was amazing," she concluded.
