MUMBAI: Bangalore-based alternative rock back Mad Orange Fireworks are "trying to find a heavier sound" for their new album, said lead vocalist Michael Dias. Through the album 'Under the Orange Sky', the band aims to keep the sound groovy, while showcasing mature song-writing, as compared to their previous album, 'Lifeline Cast.'
The band, comprising of Dias, bassist Kaushik Kumar, drummer Deepak Raghu and producer Rahul Ranganath, recently finished its three-city tour across India supporting British alternative rock band These Reigning Days in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Dias confirmed that the band is currently recording songs for 'Under the Orange Sky.' The album will feature 10 tracks and have already premiered a few of them during its recently concluded tour. From having four members, the band has retrenched to three after guitarist Ramanan Chandramouli left last year.
Speaking of the band's impromptu comedy sketches in between songs Dias said, "It is all improvised and helps us keep it casual. We constantly take each other's cases, on stage or off. When performing, we like to keep the mood of the song going."
The band will premiere its first ever music video in the first week of March. The music video for the song called 'Shaking My Ground' will also be the first single from 'Under the Orange Sky.' The music video is currently in production. The album will release soon after with Dias estimating "end of March or early April."
MOF's plan of action for the months that follow the album launch is to promote the release in places across the country. "We have quite the following in Bangalore, because we have been covering the Bangalore music scene for about four years," said Dias.
The band will next be seen performing in Pondicherry at the Pondy Partages along with Ministry of Blues, organised by Alliance française de Pondichéry on 13 February.
