MUMBAI: Manoj Yadav, best known for writing the song 'Pakezaah' from the film 'Ungli' and 'Madari Mera Tu' for 'Coke Studio Season 2' is an ardent fan of simplicity, especially when it comes to writing lyrics. He has followed a formula for all the projects he pursued till date, whether it is jingles or any Bollywood project.
"If you need to express your love to your beloved it is always good to be simple rather than just beating around the bush. This makes the song memorable and it becomes very easy for listeners to connect with the track. This is what worked for the track 'Pakezaah'," he explained.
His affair with poetry commenced when he was still in school and was always persistent to follow his interest. "When I was in school I hated history, so during one of the lectures, while the teacher was teaching and writing on the board, all the students had their eyes on the board. I was the only one who was looking down and writing poetry. The teacher came next to me and he tore my book and this annoyed me as I lost my thoughts and I was distracted," he reminisced. He revealed that his parents wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer or pursue a job that offers stability, but he continued chasing his dreams. His journey was not easy, as he lost his parents while he was still struggling and trying to establish himself in the industry.
Yadav started his career by creating jingles, with music composer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy. He loves poetries by Gulzar, Irshad Kamil, Sudhir Ludhianvi and Majrooh Sultanpuri. Recently he wrote a couple of songs for the movie 'Gabbar is Back'. His upcoming project includes songs from the upcoming movie 'Piku', which features Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan.
