Mark Ronson dedicates 'Uptown Special' to the late Amy Winehouse

MUMBAI: Mark Ronson, who recently collaborated with Bruno Mars on chart topping track 'Uptown Funk' has publicly dedicated his latest album- 'Uptown Special' to the late British singer songwriter Amy Winehouse.

In a Twitter post on 13 January, the DJ/producer uploaded an image of a hand written note that stated the album was dedicated to Amy Winehouse, along with American musician Teenie Hodges and French house and hip-hop producer DJ Mehdi.

The full note read, “For some reason, the dedication section was left off my album printing. I'm sure they'll fix it for the future, but for public record… This album is dedicated to the memory of Teenie Hodges and DJ Mehdi.

And to Amy Winehouse – although I wish you were still here, I'm always thinking of you, inspired by you and your music lives on in myself and everyone who ever felt it. Love, Mark."

Ronson and Winehouse were close friends and also worked together on the 'Rehab' singer's 2006 album 'Back to Black'. The album was nominated for several Grammy awards, and won four, including one for Best Vocal Pop Album. 'Back to Black', brought both, Winehouse and Ronson fame and recognition. The duo also worked together on the 2007 track 'Valarie', which was released as part of Ronson's second studio album titled 'Version'.

'Uptown Special' is the 39-year old producer's fourth album, which contains his first number one single in the UK and US- 'Uptown Funk'.
